Measurement

wash trading

Wash trading is buying and selling, or paying, arranged to inflate reported volume, often between related parties. A public payment log does not show who controls two addresses. Agent GDP therefore publishes raw volume and an organic screen, and does not claim the organic series is wash-free.

Explanation

The screen removes sellers with under $100 in the window, sellers with fewer than three buyers, sellers whose average payment is under $0.001, and sellers that are facilitator wallets. Those rules catch a one-buyer loop, dust, and facilitator fee legs. They do not catch ten related buyers, a buyer and seller owned by the same operator, or volume that is real onchain and empty of any service.

No further filter is applied in secret. If a future version adds a rule, the methodology page versions it. Until then, readers who need a lower bound should look at organic volume and still treat it as a screen, and readers who need the full attributed log should look at raw volume.
