Assets and chains
CAIP-2
CAIP-2 is a specification for chain identifiers that are not tied to one ecosystem. An EVM chain is written eip155 plus the chain id, so Base is eip155:8453. x402 version 2 puts that kind of name in the payment requirement's network field.
Explanation
The CAIP-2 text defines the namespace and reference. eip155 covers networks that use an Ethereum chain id. Solana uses a different namespace, which is why it should not be forced into an eip155 number. CDP's Bazaar search accepts legacy names such as base and solana and documents that they are normalized to CAIP-2.
This site's URLs use short slugs such as /chain/base. Those slugs are the index's own names. The CAIP-2 form is what the payment protocol uses on the wire. Both refer to the same network when the methodology maps them.
